Overview

Burhill Golf Club features two beautiful 18-hole golf courses in Surrey, a popular Junior Academy to nurture young talent, and a members’ club diary filled with competitions, matches and events.

The old Burhill website was dated and didn’t reflect the history and elegance of the estate. The team approached us to redesign and develop their new site, making it feel more modern and high end.

What they wanted

BGL Group approached us to design and develop a new website that more accurately reflected the club’s heritage. We only had the Burhill logo and no supporting brand assets, so we were responsible for creating a complete set of visual assets and establishing brand guidelines alongside the website design.

The primary objective of the new website was to drive increased conversions, not only for memberships but also for wedding and event bookings.

What We Did

Discovery & Branding

During the discovery phase we looked into the companies competitors to see how we could make them stand out. We gathered all the new branding and elements and thought about how we could use these to convey their new ‘follow the light’ messaging. We also looked into interested ways we could display content that we could animate to increase user engagement.

Wireframing

During the wireframing phase, we focused on mapping out the site structure and key user journeys with conversion in mind. Layouts were planned to guide users towards call to actions, particularly for membership enquiries, wedding bookings, and event enquiries. We prioritised a clear navigation, prominent calls to action, and streamlined pathways.

Design Breakdown

For the design phase, we built upon the assets that we developed during the discovery, we also used the newly created brand guidelines to inform the visual direction. The aim was to create a website that felt modern and approachable while still conveying a sense of luxury, ensuring that the club’s heritage was respected without compromising on a contemporary digital experience.

Animations

Development Breakdown

During development, we incorporated subtle load and transition effects to add interest and create a more engaging user experience. The site was then integrated into WordPress using Gutenberg blocks, allowing the client to easily manage and update content while maintaining design consistency across the site.

We still work the BGL Company to manage all 10 of their golf club websites as well as the main BGL company website. We also look after websites for Adventure Leisure as well in Bunkers UK and Total Ninja.
